Nicholas Boyd Named AMCC Newcomer of the Year

Pitt-Bradford's Nicholas Boyd was named Newcomer of the Year, headlining a total of seven Panthers selected to the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference men's and women's swimming all-conference teams, which were announced by the league office Tuesday.

Boyd joins current teammate Corey Koss and former Panther Fernando Petrilli (2010-11) as the only Pitt-Bradford men's swimmers to earn Newcomer of the Year honors.

Boyd, Koss, Lucas Cerchiaro and Noah Frederick were represented on the first-team, and all four appeared on the second-team along with Carey Behm and Devyn Condon. Elizabeth Prager was the lone representative for the women's team, earning second-team honors in three different events.

Boyd won the 50-yard free swim by four-tenths of a second and finished runner-up in the 100-yard free. He also swam on the winning 200-yard medley relay with Koss, Cerchiaro and Frederick that won in a time of 1:38.68.

Koss earned first-team accolades after repeating in the 100-yard back, and he was a second-team selection in the 200-yard back. Cerchiaro was a second-team pick in the 200-yard individual medley, and Behm garnered second-team honors in the 1,650-yard free.

Three different relays earned second-team honors: the 400-yard medley relay of Koss, Frederick, Cerchiaro and Boyd; the 400-yard free relay of Boyd, Behm, Koss and Cerchiaro; and the 800-yard free relay of Cerchiaro, Behm, Koss and Condon.

Prager, Pitt-Bradford's only senior, finished runner-up at the AMCC Championships in the 100-yard back, 200-yard back and the 500-yard free.

The Pitt-Bradford men finished third at the league championships, and the women were sixth.
