Bradford, Pa. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford men's soccer team was back on their home field for an AMCC matchup with Mount Aloysius on Saturday, falling to the Mounties 7-0.
The Panthers fell behind immediately, as the visitors were able to get on the board in the first minute of play, scoring on a rebound after a blocked shot. Lysandre Chaabi was able to find enough space for a shot in the 7th, but the Mounties were able to double their lead in the 10th. The Panthers' best chance to score came in the 17th minute. Austin Hogan got the ball in his own half, and sprinted down the right wing into the 18-yard box. he sent a low shot toward the far corner, but saw his effort parried away. The Mounties took advantage of the save, scoring their third goal 90 seconds later, heading home a rebound off of the post on a free kick. They added a fourth goal in the 24th and scored one final time in the half in the 41st. The Panthers were only able to take one more shot in the half, a free kick that sailed well over the crossbar. Starting goalkeeper Evan Schmidt made 5 saves in the half.
Things did not improve for Pitt-Bradford as the game moved into its second stanza, as they were under pressure for the entire half and were outshot 17-0 in the period. Mount Aloysius added two more goals in the 64th and 67th minute with Trevor Clark in goal, who replaced Schmidt at the half. Clark made 3 saves in the half.
Austin Hogan, Scott Compson, and Lysandre Chaabi were the only Panthers to register shots in the game, with Hogan putting the only effort on target. Schmidt was tagged with the loss after making 5 saves in the first half. Trevor Clark made 3.
The Panthers fall to 2-9 on the season with a 1-1 record in AMCC play. They will look to get back in the win column on Tuesday, as they travel to Hilbert for another AMCC matchup. Kickoff is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
