Men's Soccer Looks to Build on comeback Win as They Begin AMCC Play

Bradford, Pa. -- Coming off of a comeback victory on Tuesday, the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford men's soccer team will begin their AMCC schedule on Saturday as they host Alfred State.

The Panthers enter the game with a 2-3-1 record, which includes an unblemished record on their home field. In their midweek game, the Panthers overcame an early two-goal deficit, as well as a man advantage for Elmira, to win the game 3-2. Morounfoluwa Olorunyomi started the scoring just before the half, as he blasted a free-kick from near the halfway line, which beat the Elmira goalkeeper for his first collegiate score. Jan Winnewisser also opened his account with a solo effort that saw him dribble through the defensive line, take a shot, gather his rebound and finish to the side netting to tie the game. Finally, in the 84th minute, Chase Rider made a long run through the midfield and played a give-and-go with Winnewisser which led to Rider winning the game with his 6th goal of the year.

Chase Rider has lived up to his preseason billing as AMCC Co-Offensive Player of the Year. He leads the conference with 6 goals in just 5 games played. His total not only puts him at the top of the AMCC leaderboard but also in the Top 10 nationally. He also has two assists. Rider has not done all the offensive work on his own, as Scott Compson has also scored 3 goals for the Panthers. These included the game-tying goal in the opener against Alfred and the last-minute winner against Thiel. Senior goalkeeper Sihle Sizani has also stepped up for the Panthers. Sizani is 2-2-1 on the season and is currently 4th in the country in total saves with 46. Sizani has 1 shutout on the year.

The Pioneers are 2-3 on the season. They enter the game today coming off of a 3-1 victory over Cazenovia. Alfred State has scored 5 goals so far this season, all coming from different Platers. Jack Leahy leads the team with 11 shots, while Jackson Powers has a goal and two assists. Thad Frierson has played every minute in goal for the Pioneers. He has allowed 7 goals and made 22 saves.

The contest is scheduled to begin at 3:15 p.m. at the Soccer Fields at the Kessel Athletic Complex.
