Panthers Men's And Women's Soccer Heads To Medaille For AMCC Matches Wednesday

BRADFORD, Pa. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford soccer teams are set to head to Medaille for Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference matches Wednesday.

Both Pitt-Bradford squads (women 2-4-1, men 2-5) enter the week in seventh place in the conference, just one spot out of the playoff picture.

The Pitt-Bradford women's team is coming off a tough overtime defeat against Franciscan Saturday.

Down 2-1 in the final minute of the game, Meghan Stuck won a ball deep in Franciscan territory and played in it toward the goal.

Courtney Shade collected it, worked her way into space and knocked it into the back of the net to tie the game.

But, after an overtime period, Franciscan found the back of the net three minutes into the second OT period to take the win.

Shade scored a pair of goals in the contest, the other coming on a penalty kick in the 58th minute.

Julie Barton scored the first goal of the game for the Panthers coming off an assist from Grace Dadzaa.

On the season, Shade leads the team with 10 goals, the first Panther to earn a double-digit goal total in a single season since Melissa Smith's record-breaking 2014 campaign with 30 goals.

Shade's 10 total goals are the second most in the conference while her nine goals scored in conference play also rank second most in the AMCC. Her 21 points are also second-most in the AMCC.

Stuck's four goals and four assists amount to 12 points, the second-most on the team.

Emily Bethel's 110 total saves are the fourth-most in the conference.

The Panthers' men's team is coming off a 3-0 setback against Franciscan Saturday.

Chase Rider continues to lead the team with five goals while Ryuta Hayakawa and Ugwunna Amandi have three apiece.

Hayakawa's six assists are the second-highest total in the AMCC, as five players are tied for first with seven.

The Medaille women's team is still in search of its first AMCC victory at 0-6. Kristen Kline is the team's leader with four goals on the season.

The Mavericks' men's team is defending AMCC champions and they've continued that success into this season with a 4-1-1, third in the conference. Lachlan Beever leads the conference with 15 goals while Mitchell Ali is among the conference's assists leaders with seven.

The women's game will begin the day at 1 p.m. with the men following after around 3:15 p.m.
