Allegheny Tops Panthers In Road Contest Thursday

MEADVILLE, Pa. -- Allegheny defeated the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford men's soccer team, 6-1, in a non-conference matchup Thursday evening.

"We did not play well tonight," Head Coach Nathan Whitehurst said. "And Allegheny took advantage of their chances."

With the loss, Pitt-Bradford moves to 1-3 on the season.

Allegheny wasted no time in gaining the advantage, scoring 2:27 into the contest.

But Pitt-Bradford tied it a short time later.

In the 21st minute, Allegheny fouled the Panthers inside the box, allowing for a Pitt-Bradford penalty kick.

For the second time this season, Ryuta Hayakawa stepped up and buried the PK, tying the game.

But goals for the Gators in the 36th minute and another two minutes later eventually sent them into the half ahead 3-1.

A pair of Gator goals midway through the second half, then one in the closing seconds on the contest gave Allegheny the 6-1 victory.

Along the way, the Panthers logged 10 total shots and put half on net. 

Ugwunna Amadi led the way with three shots, while Hayakawa had two. Sa Hun KimDakotah GrahamLucien KalkhofAllee Williams and Chase Rider had a shot apiece.

Amadi put a pair of attempts on goal.

Sihle Sizani started in goal for the Panthers, playing all 90 minutes and making eight saves.

Up next, the Panthers will take stay on the road and head to Wooster Saturday for a 12:30 p.m.
