Panthers Welcome Penn State-Altoona Saturday For AMCC Opener

BRADFORD, Pa. – The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford men's soccer team will welcome Penn State-Altoona on Saturday for its Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference opener.

Pitt-Bradford is coming off a defeat at Alfred on Wednesday.

Prior to Wednesday's action, the Panthers claimed a thrilling 3-2 win over Juniata on Sept. 16.

Ryuta Hayakawa scored the game-winning goal with three minutes to go in regulation, giving the Panthers their first victory of the season.

Hayakawa also scored a pair of goals in Pitt-Bradford's 3-3 tie with Alfred State on Sept. 13. For his three timely goals last week, the Kyoto, Japan, native was named the AMCC Offensive Player of the Week.

Ugwunna Amadi scored a pair of goals in the team's win over Juniata and is tied with Hayakawa atop the team list with three total goals on the year.

Steve McFetridge has also scored for the Panthers this season.

McFetridge and Ethan Acaster have each assisted two goals.

Goalkeeper Derrick Brock sits atop the AMCC with 61 saves. He has saved 70.9 percent of all shots on goal, which is the sixth-best mark in the conference.

Saturday's game will be the first part of a doubleheader with the Pitt-Bradford women's team. The men's game will begin at 1 p.m., with the women's match immediately following around 3:15 p.m.
