Panthers drop physical match with Lycoming, 3-0

BRADFORD, Pa. – The Pitt-Bradford men's soccer team suffered a tough defeat to the Lycoming Warriors, 3-0, on Sunday afternoon at the Kessel Athletic Complex.

Pitt-Bradford (0-5) started slow both defensively and offensively, but the pace picked up in the second half with the players playing with a newfound sense of urgency.

The Panthers were outshot 19-3 during the contest, with goalkeeper Colin Frownfelter making several tough saves at the line. On more than one occasion, Frownfelter could be seen diving over the top of individuals to keep the ball out of the net.

Nearly eight minutes into the game, Lycoming (3-0-1) found the net for the first time in the contest. Frownfelter blocked a strong shot from the Warriors and Luke Klingler was in the right place at the right time for the put-back to make it 1-0.

Exactly one minute later, Lycoming's Kyle Thomas scored on a pass from Kevin Seymour that slipped past the keeper's outstretched fingers to give the Warriors a 2-0 edge. That score stuck as the teams headed into the locker room for halftime.

In the second half, both teams got after it with a lot of intensity and passion that gave the crowd a good show. With 74 minutes gone, Lycoming's Keenthy Yeboah scored on an unassisted shot to bring the game to its final tally.

Pitt-Bradford continued to create chances, but the opportunities never seemed to reach the net. Drives stalled and the Lycoming defense played a strong match not allowing shots.

The Panthers return to the field on Wednesday, Sept. 10, as they travel to Huntingdon, Pa. to take on Juniata at 2 p.m.
