BRADFORD, Pa. -- Junior Matt Moonan of the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford men's golf team will compete in the 119th Western Pennsylvania Amateur Golf Championship at Oakmont Country Club from July 1-3.

"Matt gets to play the historic Oakmont CC near Pittsburgh after a great qualifying round," Pitt-Bradford Head Coach Keith Stauffer said. "This is a nice accomplishment for Matt."

The Bradford native shot 76 at the qualifier at Sinking Valley Country Club in Altoona and earned his spot after winning a playoff for the last two remaining spots.

At Oakmont, 78 golfers will compete in a 54-hole tournament with a cut after 36 holes for the low 32 golfers and ties.

The junior is coming off a strong collegiate season in which he helped Pitt-Bradford earn the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference championship and a spot in the NCAA Championships.

He once again earned All-AMCC status and was named the AMCC Golfer of the Week on Sept. 17.

Moonan's success at Sinking Valley is familiar, as he shot at 74 there on Sept. 15 and matched that same score and led the Panthers to a win at the Mount Aloysius Invitational the following day to take the Mountain Valley Collegiate Classic individual title.
