Matt Moonan Named AMCC Golfer of the Week

Official AMCC Release

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. -- Junior Matt Moonan of the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford men's golf team has been named the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Golfer of the Week for his performance during the period of Sept. 10-16, conference officials announced Monday.

"Matt had a great weekend in winning the Mountain Valley Championship, beating every golfer in the conference," Head Coach Keith Stauffer said. "He has worked hard on getting to this level, and I couldn't be any more proud of him. He deserves the honor and recognition. He is the leader of our team and we are definitely trending in the right direction. Hopefully, this is just a sign of things to come."

Moonan led the Panthers to a successful weekend, guiding them to a victory Sunday at Mount Aloysius.

He also picked up the individual victory of the "Mountain Valley Collegiate Classic" that combines the scores from Saturday's event at Penn State-Altoona and Sunday's action at Mount Aloysius with a combined score of 148 with consistent scores of 74 both days.

The Bradford, Pa., native's 74 Saturday tied with teammate Cary Ignaczak for second-best at the event.

On Sunday, Moonan tied with Penn State-Altoona's Jimmy Gillespie and he came out on top in a tiebreaker to take the individual medal.

Pitt-Bradford has three more events before the AMCC Championships on Oct. 7 and 8.
