Panthers Finish Fourth In 15th Annual Pitt-Bradford Invitational

BRADFORD, Pa. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford men's golf team opened up its 2018 season with the 15th annual Pitt-Bradford Invitational at Pine Acres Country Club Saturday.

The Panthers finished fourth with a team score of 317. Grove City finished third, just one stroke ahead of the Panthers.

Penn State-Behrend captured the team win with a score of 301, while Pitt-Greensburg finished second at 307.

"It was a beautiful day," Head Coach Keith Stauffer said. "The guys played hard. They struggled a little at the beginning of their rounds but fought hard until the end. We have to clean up a couple of things and we'll be right there. I have high hopes for this team. This team has the potential to accomplish terrific things for Pitt Bradford."

15 total schools competed with Penn State-Behrend and Westminster bringing two squads for 17 total teams. All nine teams in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference competed in the event.

Under a hot, clear sky at their home course, Matt Moonan and Jarod Chaffee tied for the Panthers team individual lead with scores of 76, which was good for fifth overall.

Cary Ignaczak and Cooper Cordova were two strokes behind at 78 -- tied for 12th overall.

Johnny Fiore and Jamie Rook tied for 50th overall with scores of 85.

To round out the Panther competitors, Sam Marchini and Brayden Snyder each shot an 86.

Pitt-Bradford will be in action next Monday competing in the Medaille Invitational.
