Moonan Named AMCC Player of the Week

BRADFORD, Pa. -- Sophomore Matt Moonan of the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford men's golf team has been named the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Player of the Week for his performance from Sept. 25-Oct. 2, conference officials announced Monday.

The Bradford, Pa., native put together his strongest round of the season so far and led the team with a 75 on Tuesday at the Westminster Invitational held at New Castle Country Club.

"Matt played extremely well," Head Coach Keith Stauffer said of his performance this week. "It's nice to have him back, as he has put in a lot of work to elevate his game."

Moonan's score was tied for the third-lowest recorded of the 73 total golfers at the event and was just two strokes shy of the lead.

His performance led the Panthers to a second-place finish out of 14 teams competing, the team's third finish in the top two of the season.

Pitt-Bradford will wrap up its 2017 season in the next week, competing at Penn State-Behrend Monday and Hilbert on Thursday before playing in the AMCC Championships on Sunday, Oct. 8 and Monday, Oct. 9.
