Pitt-Bradford Heads To Penn State-Altoona, Mount Aloysius This Weekend Coming Off Historic Round

BRADFORD, Pa. – The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford will compete in two events this weekend, first traveling to Penn State-Altoona Saturday for a competition at Sinking Valley Country Club followed by a trip to Mount Aloysius Sunday for a round at Summit Country Club.

The Panthers will head into the busy weekend after earning the best round in program history on Wednesday at Penn State-Dubois.

As a team, Pitt-Bradford shot a 301, besting the program's previous low of 306, which was first achieved in 2002 and later tied in 2006.

It was a strong team effort to break the program record that stood for 15 years, as four of the five golfers in the Panthers' lineup scored in the 70's.

Jamie Rook led the way with an even-par score of 71, the best performance by any Panther so far this season and also his lowest score ever at the collegiate level.

Cary Ignaczak has been a consistently solid performer in each of the team's three first events. The freshman led Pitt-Bradford in both of the first two events, shooting a 77 at the Pitt-Bradford Invitational (Sept. 2) and a 76 at the Medaille Invitational (Sept. 6). His 74 on Wednesday was a season low.

Brett Gardner and Sam Marchini both finished with scores of 78 on Wednesday.

With an 81 at Penn State-DuBois, Matt Moonan played his best round of the season to round out the scoring for the Panthers.
