Pitt-Bradford Men's Basketball Set to Tip-Off 2019-20 Season

Bradford, Pa. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford Men's Basketball team is primed for a resurgent season after finishing at the bottom of the AMCC in 2018-19.

Ryan Shay will begin his second season as the Head Coach of the Panthers. In his first season, the Panthers finished 4-21 with a 3-15 record in AMCC play. Shay's team will build off of a strong defensive foundation, that led the AMCC in steals per game with 8.8. They will look to bring the same intensity back to KOA Arena, as they were able to pick up home victories over 4th seeded Mount Aloysius and the eventual AMCC champions, Penn State Behrend, last season.

The Panthers will have a young team that includes 9 freshmen, but will lean on 3 returning upperclassmen to lead the team. Senior Justin Kusiappouh will lead the front court. Kusiappouh averaged 8.7 points and 5.0 rebounds per game as a junior. The backcourt will be led by a pair of juniors, George Alston and Jeffrey Fry. Fry averaged 5.8 points per game in 2018-19 while shooring 39.6% from beyond the arc and 86.7% from the free throw line. Alston played 22 minutes a game, averaging 4.4 points and nearly a steal per game.

The Panther's season will begin Tuesday November 12th. They will host Houghton College beginning at 7:00 PM in KOA Arena.
