Panthers Erase Early Deficit, Fall to Alfred State

Bradford, Pa. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford Men's Basketball team was able to erase a 15-point first half deficit against Alfred State on Wednesday Night, but ultimately fell to the Pioneers 85-76.

Game Notes

  • The Panthers saw their opponents get off to a hot start as the Pioneers hit their first three shots of the game to go up 8-0. Alfred State saw continued success through the first 8 minutes of the game as they were able to build a 15 point lead.
  • Pitt-Bradford was able to strike back over a six minute period, outscoring the Pioneers 19-4 to tie the game at 30 on a Justin Kusiappouh put back lay-up.
  • Alfred State quickly responded with 7 straight, and went on to finish the half with a 6-point lead.
  • In the second half, the Panthers were able to cut the lead to 1 with 11:05 to go after a 7-0 run in a little over a minute. Kusiappouh scored 5 in the run and Alex Rodriguez added a bucket inside.
  • That was as close as Pitt-Bradford would come to the Pioneers as they again responded with a 9 point run to rebuild a double digit lead. 

Leaders

  • Nick Carmichael led the Panthers with 17 points on 7-13 from the field and 3-3 from the line. He also grabbed 9 rebounds.
  • Justin Kusiappouh posted another double double, his 3rd in a row. He scored 12 points and grabbed 12 rebounds, including 5 on the offensive end.
  • Deondre Terwilliger and Alex Rodriguez also finished in double figures with 17 and 15 respectively.

The loss moves the Panthers to 1-4 on the season with an 0-2 record in AMCC play. Their next game will be on Saturday afternoon when they travel to Pittsburgh to take on LaRoche University. Tip-off is slated for 1:00 p.m.
