BRADFORD, Pa. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford men's basketball team fell, 82-66, against Medaille in an Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference matchup at the KOA Arena Wednesday night.
"I thought our effort was a lot better tonight," Head Coach Sean Brown Sr. said. "Our execution on offense also has improved. Tonight, Medaille just had a lot more firepower, but the effort was there tonight from us defensively."
Sahlil Harris put together his best game as of late, scoring a team-leading 14 points while blocking four shots and grabbing a pair of steals in 21 minutes on the floor.
Desmond Brogsdale and Dylan Niedermeyer had 12 points apiece, and Colby Mills knocked down three three-pointers while scoring 11 points.
Brogsdale and Niedermeyer each pulled down nine boards to lead the Panthers.
The two teams hung even through the early part of the game, holding a 16-16 tie after a Mills' make from deep at the 11:15 mark.
But a 13-2 run brought Medaille's lead to 29-18 at the 9:06 mark.
Medaille eventually would hang tough and hold a 45-31 advantage into the break.
The Mavs shot 51.4% from the field in the half, converting on 18 field goals. Medaille also held the advantage at the free-throw line, going 6-10 from the stripe in the first half.
Pitt-Bradford also shot a high percentage of 46.7 percent on 14 makes, but the Panthers went just 1-6 at the free-throw line.
Niedermeyer got the scoring started in the second half with a layup to cut into the Medaille lead early.
Harris later knocked down a three-ball and brought the score to 49-36 at the 17:15 mark.
But the Mavs bounced back, gaining its largest lead of 22 points at the 11:52 mark.
Pitt-Bradford continued to pressure the Medaille offense with a full-court press, and eventually forced seven Mavs' turnovers and grabbed four steals in the half.
Four separate times, Harris came flying in on a Medaille fastbreak and blocked the shot cleanly from behind.
But the Mavs would hold strong and finish out the 82-66 win.
In total, the Panthers shot 43.5 percent from the floor.
The two teams each had 14 turnovers.
Brogsdale led the game with six assists.
Up next, the Panthers will host Pitt-Greensburg Saturday at the KOA Area. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m.
