Pitt-Bradford men's basketball player Evan Greening was named a 2016-17 HERO Sports second-team All-American Tuesday, becoming the first Panther in program history to receive the honor.

It's the second postseason award of its kind for the Fredericksburg, Virginia, native, who was named a D3hoops.com All-Great Lakes Region second-team selection last week.

Greening led the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference in scoring (20.2) and rebounding (14.3) for the second straight season, earning first-team all-league status, and he was one of three players in NCAA Division III this season to average more than 20 points and 13 rebounds a game.

The senior forward broke the AMCC record for total rebounds in a season (328) this year, finishing with 357 total boards, and ranked in the top five nationally in double-doubles (20), offensive rebounds per game (5.56) and rebounds per game.

Greening is a member of the 2017 Allstate NABC Good Works Team®, was one of 10 finalists for the 2017 Jostens Trophy and appeared on the Bevo Francis Award Top 100 Watch List.

He will be traveling to Phoenix in two weeks to represent Pitt-Bradford at the 2017 NABC Convention and 2017 NCAA Men's Final Four® as part of the Allstate NABC Good Works Team®.
