Panthers Hold on to Defeat Franciscan

Three players scored in the double-figures, led by Evan Greening's team-high 23 points, and the Pitt-Bradford men's basketball team defeated Franciscan Saturday, 79-71.

The Panthers as a team posted their besting shooting performance of the season, hitting at a 53 percent clip from the floor. Pitt-Bradford never trailed, but the Barons shot 56 percent and hit 7-13 three-pointers to remain within striking distance throughout the contest.

The defense fueled the offense, as the Panthers totaled 11 steals and forced 20 turnovers. Pitt-Bradford scored 26 points off those miscues and netted nine second-chance points despite being outrebounded.

Greening was 11-19 from the field and pulled down 17 rebounds to record his 15th double-double of the season. Manny Welch scored 17 points, including knocking down a late three with the Panthers leading by four, and Fateem Brockington added 15 points.

Pitt-Bradford improves to 9-9 on the season and 7-5 in the AMCC. The Panthers return to action Wednesday at D'Youville.
