Alfred State scored 57 second-half points Tuesday night, erasing an 11-point halftime deficit in the process, to defeat the Pitt-Bradford men's basketball team 90-66.

It was very much of a game of two halves as the Panthers led 44-33 at the break behind eight first-half threes. Christian Kelly-Perkins was a perfect 4-4 from long distance, and the Panthers shot 46 percent from the floor.

And then the second half started. Alfred State cut the deficit to 48-43 three and a half minutes in, and Juwan Toliver's basket with 11:26 remaining tied the game at 52. The Pioneers jumped ahead for good two possessions later, and a string of eight straight points extended their lead to 69-57 with 5:55 left.

The Panthers pulled within seven, 72-65, on Fateem Brockington's triple, but Pitt-Bradford would fail to score a basket over the final 4:24.  

Alfred State shot 59 percent in the second half, going 23-39 from the floor, including 5-8 from behind the arc. The Pioneers outscored the Panthers 28-10 in the paint during the frame and netted 17 points off 12 Pitt-Bradford turnovers.

The Blue and Gold managed just nine made baskets over the final period, shooting a dismal 33 percent, and were 2-11 from three. Pitt-Bradford finished the night shooting 41 percent overall.

Alfred State outrebounded the Panthers by four and scored 20 second-chance points. For the game, the Pioneers held a 46-24 scoring advantage in the paint and went to the line 18 times compared to just four for Pitt-Bradford.

Kelly-Perkins finished with a team-high 17 points on 6-11 shooting, and Evan Greening added 14 points and nine rebounds. Brockington scored 10 points, and Sahlil Harris handed out eight assists.

Pitt-Bradford falls to 8-9 on the season and resumes AMCC play Saturday at Franciscan.
