Pitt-Bradford men's basketball player Evan Greening was one of a record 278 nominees for the 2017 Allstate Women's Basketball Coaches Association and National Association of Basketball Coaches Good Works Teams® for his volunteer work.

The Allstate WBCA and NABC Good Works Teams® recognize players at all levels of college basketball whose charitable involvement and altruistic acts stand out among all other student-athletes participating in the sport.

A total of 97 WBCA and 181 NABC student-athletes were nominated for the prestigious honor. Greening was nominated by men's head coach Britt Moore.

"He is a tremendous young man who is a tireless worker on and off the floor," Moore said. "He has taken 18 or more credits each semester…he is an active volunteer and uses the summer to help the Special Olympics and various youth camps and organizations."

Greening is a three-time All-AMCC selection and was chosen as the Preseason Player of the Year by the league's coaches. Through four games the senior forward is leading the AMCC in scoring (25.3) and rebounding (13.0).

In addition to excelling on the court, Greening has volunteered with the Special Olympics, American Red Cross and Read Across America, a program in which volunteers read to elementary students. The Fredericksburg, Va., native worked in his local community labeling storm drains to prevent dumping of toxic waste that drains to the Rappahannock River and is an Eagle Scout recipient.

Greening has worked at numerous basketball camps, including free clinics for young athletes who are unable to attend paid elite camps.

In the classroom, Greening maintains a 3.5 GPA as a dual-major and is a member of Chi Alpha Sigma, the Student-Athlete Honor Society, and Phi Alpha Theta, the National History Honor Society.

He was the only player from the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference to be nominated for the 2017 Allstate NABC Good Works Teams®.

Two special voting panels, highlighted by seven-time NBA All-Star Grant Hill and current WNBA star Skylar Diggins, will select 10 member teams from both the WBCA and NABC, comprised of five student-athletes from the NCAA Division I level and five student-athletes from Divisions II, III and the NAIA. The final roster of 20 award recipients will be unveiled in February and honored at this year's NCAA Division I Final Fours in Dallas and Phoenix.
