Pitt-Bradford gets a big win on senior day against Mount Aloysius

BRADFORD, Pa. – The Pitt-Bradford men's basketball team hosted Mount Aloysius and came away with a victory, 84-62.

Pitt-Bradford (15-10, 12-6) was led offensively by junior Eric Matheson (Ridgway/Ridgway) who tallied 15 points for the Panthers.

The Panthers had five players reach double-digit scoring with Matheson with 15 points, senior Keith Burgess (Hillside, NJ/Hillside) with 14 points, sophomore Zach Smith (Smethport/Smethport) with 14 points, senior Lucas Pichette (North Tonawanda, NY/North Tonawanda) with 11 points and senior Tyler Fantaskey (Warren/Warren) with 10 points.

Mount Aloysius (8-17, 6-12) was led offensively by Tanner Thomas who collected 22 points for the Mounties.

The Mounties came out of the gate on fire on offense and jumped on top of the Panthers early by way of three straight three-pointers by Thomas, which put the Mounties on top 15-8 early in the first half.

The Panthers battled back by playing tough team defense and capitalized on the Mounties' mistakes.

Pitt-Bradford went on a 14-3 run that helped extend its lead with 4:26 left in the first half. The Panthers hung on to their lead as they went into the locker room up 48-37.

The Panthers started off the second half playing with the same energy they played with at the end of the first half going on a 15-4 to open up the period.

Pitt-Bradford dominated the second half on both sides of the ball. The Panthers shot 50.8 percent from the floor and held Mount Aloysius to only 37.3 percent as they defeated the Mounties, 84-62.

Pitt-Bradford's head coach Britt Moore said, "Great win at home on senior day for all of the departing seniors. We did enough to get the win and are excited for the playoff opportunity. Playoffs become a new season and a new focus."

The Panthers will go on the road in round one of the AMCC Playoffs to face Hilbert College on Tuesday, February 24 at 7 p.m.
