Panthers Baseball To Continue AMCC Action Hosting Alfred State Wednesday

BRADFORD, Pa. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford baseball team is set to host its second-straight Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference series at the Kessel Athletics Complex Wednesday as Alfred State comes to town.

Pitt-Bradford (7-7, 0-2 AMCC) is coming off a pair of setbacks against Mount Aloysius Sunday in its home and AMCC opener.

The Mounties took game one 13-3, then the two teams worked a back-and-forth affair in game two that Mount Aloysius got the best of, 8-7.

In game one, Robert Sawicki, Tyler Hoops and Austin Parent had a pair of hits apiece for the Panthers. Parent, Sawicki and Kevin Rehak each doubled for the Panthers.

Then in game two, Parent homered and Hoops dropped in three hits, a double, scored two runs and drove in a run.

Joshua Zelinski and Reid Tarnowski had a pair of hits apiece.

Logan Edmonds started for the Panthers and delivered 6.2 innings of work while striking out six.

On the season, Edmonds has the second-best ERA in the AMCC at 1.59.

Parent leads the team in hitting with a .348 batting average and Hoops is next hitting .333.

Hoops also leads the squad with 10 RBIs and 13 runs scored.

Alfred State comes to the Kessel Athletics Complex with a 6-9 overall record and an 0-2 AMCC mark after dropping both against La Roche Sunday.

Andrew Santobuono leads the conference in strikeouts with 26 in 29 innings pitched. On offense, Danny Doran has clubbed three homers and driven in 12 runs.

First pitch for game one is set for 1 p.m. with game two coming around 3:30 p.m.
