FORT MYERS, Fla. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford baseball team wrapped up action in the Gene Cusic Classic Sunday with a doubleheader against Bethany (W.Va.).

Bethany came out on top in both contests by the score of 7-2.

"We were flat today," Head Coach Zach Foster said. "Our starters threw well but the pen gave Bethany too many opportunities. We swung the bat better today despite the score. Just need to get back to work and get ready for Mount Aloysius this weekend."

Pitt-Bradford now owns a record of 7-5 so far this season.

In game one, the two teams went scoreless for the first three frames until the Panthers opened up a 2-0 lead in the top of the fourth on an RBI double from Kevin Rehak, who later scored on a sacrifice fly from Sawyer Packard.

But Bethany got one back in the bottom of the fourth and later tied the game in the fifth.

The Bison opened the game up with a five-run sixth.

Panther pitching walked in a run, then a pair of two-run singles brought the score to the eventual final of 7-2.

Pitt-Bradford dropped in 10 hits, including doubles from Rehak and Packard and a pair of hits from Jason Lucarelli. 

All nine batters in the Panther order recorded a hit.

On the mound, Logan Edmonds started the game and tossed five innings while striking out six. 

Alex Miles and Ben Suter came on in relief to finish out the game.

In game two, Bethany scored a run in the second and the third to take an early 2-0 lead.

An RBI single from Robert Sawicki in the fifth brought home Tyler Hoops the first hit of the ballgame for the Panthers to cut the lead to 2-1.

But a three-run sixth from Bethany gave the Bison a 5-1 advantage.

Justin Dattoli singled home Rehak in the bottom of the sixth brought the score to 5-2, but two more in the seventh from the Bison gave them the eventual final score of 7-2.

Reid Tarnowski started on the mound for the Panthers and went 5.2 innings while striking out four.

Benjamin Hayes and Sam Gwiazdinski came on in relief for the Panthers.

Up next, Pitt-Bradford will head home and host Mount Aloysius for their AMCC and home opener Saturday.
