Boyer Named NCBWA National Pitcher of the Week Honorable Mention

Official NCBWA Release

BRADFORD, Pa. -- The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) tabbed senior Ryan Boyer of the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford baseball team the Division III National Pitcher of the Week Honorable Mention for his performance during the period of Feb. 18-24, officials announced Wednesday.

"Congrats to Ryan on another great accomplishment," Head Coach Zach Foster said. "If he continues to stay the course and keep working at it, he is going to set himself and our team up nicely by the end of the year. Congrats to Ryan."

This marks the second national recognition Boyer has received this week as Tuesday he was announced to the D3Baseball Team of the Week.

The Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference also named him its Pitcher of the Week.

The Bradford native was purely dominant in his opening day start, coming one out away from a perfect game Saturday.

Boyer struck out 16 batters in a complete game and didn't walk anyone.

The 16 strikeouts are the program's most in a single game since 2005.

The lone hit against Boyer was a home run, serving as his only surrendered run.
