Boyer Named To D3Baseball Team Of The Week

D3Baseball Team of the Week (Feb. 18-24)

BRADFORD, Pa. -- Senior pitcher Ryan Boyer of the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford baseball team has been named to the D3Baseball Team of the Week for his performance during the period of Feb. 18-24.

"Congrats to Ryan on Team of the Week," Head Coach Zach Foster said. "He set himself out on the right foot with that performance. He's been locked in since early January on what he wants to accomplish this year. Fun to watch."

Each week, D3Baseball accepts nominations from each team NCAA Division III team in the nation and complies a squad of the top performances from the week.

Boyer was one of three starting pitchers honored this week.

This is the third week D3Baseball has compiled a Team of the Week during the 2019 season, but the first Pitt-Bradford has been eligible since starting its season Saturday.

The Bradford native was purely dominant in his opening day start, coming one out away from a perfect game Saturday.

He struck out 16 batters in a seven-inning complete game to pick up the win at Wells and didn't walk anyone.

The 16 strikeouts are the program's most in a single game since 2005.

The lone hit against him was a home run, serving as his only surrendered run.

Monday, the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference named Boyer the Pitcher of the Week.

The Panthers resume action with four games this weekend in Dayton, Ohio, starting with single games Friday and Saturday against Carleton followed by a twin bill Sunday against Carleton and Olivet.
