Boyer, Parent Sweep AMCC Weekly Awards

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. -- Seniors Ryan Boyer and Austin Parent of the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford baseball team swept the first round of the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference weekly awards, conference officials announced Monday.

"This is a very nice accomplishment for both young men," Head Coach Zach Foster said. "Ryan was dialed in from the first pitch and was able to spot arm side and extension side with ease. Fun to watch. AP started where he left off last year and is seeing the ball well early. Congrats to both of them."

Boyer, the AMCC Pitcher of the Week, was purely dominant in his opening day start, coming one out away from a perfect game Saturday.

The Bradford native struck out 16 batters in a seven-inning complete game win at Wells and didn't walk anyone.

The 16 strikeouts are the most by a Panther pitcher since Bobby Wyant struck out 17 during an AMCC playoff game in 2005.

The lone hit against was a home run, serving as his only surrendered run.

Parent, the AMCC Player of the Week, went 5-for-13 in a three-game sweep at Wells this weekend.

His best game came in the third and sweep-clinching contest where he homered, doubled twice and drove in five runs.

In the three games, he also scored four runs, walked twice and stole a base.

Splitting time behind the plate and at first base, he recorded 26 putouts and a .963 fielding percentage.

The Panthers resume action with four games this weekend in Dayton, Ohio, starting with single games Friday and Saturday against Carleton followed by a twin bill Sunday against Carleton and Olivet.
