BRADFORD, Pa. -- On Monday, Nov. 5, Austin Parent of the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford baseball team received his awards for accomplishing the astounding feat of finishing first in NCAA Division III in both batting average and on-base percentage.

"It still seems unreal to think about AP's numbers," Head Coach Zach Foster said. "Having this amount of time to sit back and really look at them, it's quite impressive. When you see the way he works and how meticulous he is to details, it makes sense. I was very proud to be able to see him get those awards and they are well deserved."

During his junior season, the Panthers' catcher hit .496 and recorded a .616 on-base percentage, leading the country in both categories.

The Gilbert, Ariz., native's batting average led not only NCAA Division III but all three NCAA levels.

His on-base percentage is also the top in any NCAA level, as he is the lone collegiate player in the whole country to post an on-base percentage over .600 -- and his was 16 points higher than that plateau.

As a result of his fantastic season, Parent was named the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Player of the Year and he earned a spot on the D3 Baseball All-America First Team and the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) All-America First Team. He is the first member of the Pitt-Bradford baseball program to earn All-America status in history.

Last season, Pitt-Bradford finished 17-16 overall and 10-8 in AMCC play. Parent helped lead the team to one of its most successful seasons in recent time, as the 10 regular-season conference victories were the program's most since 2010. As a result, Pitt-Bradford earned the No. 4 seed in the AMCC Championship Tournament and hosted Penn State-Altoona for the First Round.

Parent and his teammates are set to open their 2019 season on Feb. 23 in New Market, Va. The first home action at the Kessel Athletic Complex is set for Friday, March 23, against Mount Aloysius.
