BRADFORD, Pa. -- For his red-hot offensive performance last week, junior Austin Parent of the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford baseball team has received national recognition by D3Baseball.com and HEROSports.com.

Parent was named the D3Baseball.com Team of the Week's catcher for games played from April 9-15. Each week, D3Baseball.com selects its honor roll of eight nominated position players, a designated hitter and four pitchers to make up its "Team of the Week."

The Gilbert, Ariz., native was chosen by D3Baseball.com to be featured over all other selected players on the release with his photo appearing on the front page of the site with the caption, "Pitt-Bradford's Austin Parent stood out on a week where several catchers starred for their teams and earned the spot behind the dish for the tenth D3baseball.com's Team of the Week."

In addition to his selection to the D3Baseball.com's Team of the Week, Parent has also been announced a finalist for HEROSports.com's D3 HERO of the Week.

Six other players appear on a ballot that runs until Friday a 2 p.m. Fans are allowed to vote once per hour per device.

Prior to Tuesday's national recognition, Parent was honored as the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference's Player of the Week Monday.

With five home runs and 14 RBIs in five games, the junior put together a stellar week.

Two of his home runs were grand slams, and he hit three in one day during the doubleheader at Pitt-Greensburg.

He scored at least one run in each game, totaling 13 overall.

In total, he went 13-for-23 (.565) while walking twice and stealing a base.

His power numbers helped the Panthers to a 4-1 week in conference games.

With seven extra-base hits, his slugging percentage for the weekend was an off-the-charts 1.304.

On the season, Parent leads the conference with a .863 slugging percentage and .571 on-base percentage. His 30 RBIs and .466 batting average both rank second in the AMCC.

The Panthers hold a 4-3 mark in AMCC play and a 10-9 record overall.

Pitt-Bradford is set to play home contests Wednesday against Penn State-Behrend, Thursday against Penn State-Altoona and Saturday against Medaille.
