Boyer, Packard Earn AMCC Weekly Honors

BRADFORD, Pa. -- Juniors and Bradford natives Ryan Boyer and Sawyer Packard of the Pitt-Bradford baseball team earned Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference weekly honors as Boyer was named the conference's Pitcher of the Week and Packard the Player of the Week for their performances during the period of Feb. 26-March 4.

"Ryan has worked extremely hard the past two seasons," Head Coach Zach Foster said. "His early success is credited to his work ethic. He expects a lot from himself and he has that edge when he pitches. Sawyer is a great story. The kid has persevered through a lot. Two hip surgeries later and he is back on the field. That is a testament to his work ethic and love for the game. He is seeing the ball really well and he is a gamer. I'm very proud of them both."

Boyer started two of the team's first four games of the season and has helped them to a perfect 4-0 start. In 11 innings pitched, he has given up just one run and eight hits and stuck out 19 total -- including 11 in his first outing of the season at Chatham. He tossed six innings in his debut and five in his second start, earning a win Sunday against Hiram.

Packard's offensive numbers line up perfectly with the team's red-hot undefeated start.

With an average of .500 and starting all four of the team's games, he has hit a pair of doubles, collected nine RBIs and scored six runs of his own while posting a .550 on-base percentage. In a non-conference game against D'Youville, he went 4-for-4 with a double, four RBIs and two stolen bases.

Pitt-Bradford baseball will be back in action Tuesday with games against Saint John's (Minn.) and Bluffton in Fort Myers, Fla.
