BRADFORD, Pa. - Pitt-Bradford baseball players Austin Parent, Dalton Renn, Jay Clinger and Tyler Hoops were named to the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference postseason team, as announced by the league office Tuesday.
Parent and Renn received second-team honors, while Clinger and Hoops appeared on the third-team. For Renn and Clinger, it marked the second straight season they were named to the all-conference squad.
Parent, a sophomore catcher, hit a team-leading .366 with 11 doubles, three home runs, and 38 RBIs in 39 games for the Panthers. His 38 runs driven in were the ninth-most in the AMCC. The Gilbert, Arizona, native led Pitt-Bradford with 49 total hits and ranked second in slugging percentage (.515), on-base percentage (.443), and total bases (69). In conference play, Parent hit at a .466 clip with one home run and 18 RBIs.
He posted 15 multiple-hit games, had a season-long 17-game hitting streak and reached base in the team's final 34 games. His 14 two-out RBIs were tops on the team and no player in the league had more sacrifice flies (9).
Renn, a junior third baseman, hit .348 with 16 doubles, three triples, four home runs, and a team-best 42 RBIs. He ranked in the top 10 in the AMCC in doubles, triples, home runs, RBIs, runs scored (37), total bases (82), and slugging percentage (.594). The Hallam native was at his best in conference play, hitting .360 with 24 RBIs. Only Mt. Aloysius' Matthew McCourt drove in more runs against league opponents than Renn.
A second-team pick one year ago, Renn reached base in 36 straight games to end the season and totaled 15 games with two or more hits.
Clinger, a junior second baseman, batted .336 with 12 doubles, a triple, one home run and 25 RBIs for Pitt-Bradford. He ranked among the top Panther hitters in average, hits (46), doubles, triples, home runs, RBIs, runs scored (32), slugging percentage (.474) and total bases (65). The Edinboro native posted 11 multiple-hit games, and his .404 mark with runners in scoring position trailed only Parent.
Clinger hit .367 with 10 RBIs and 12 runs scored in league action this year, and it marks the third time in his career he has been named to the all-conference team.
Hoops, a freshman shortstop, hit .337 with 45 runs scored, four doubles, two triples, two home runs and 20 RBIs. Slotted at the top of the Panther lineup, the Mendham, New Jersey, native led the AMCC and ranked in the top 10 nationally in NCAA Division III with 38 walks. His .512 on-base percentage was second in the league and among the 30 best qualifying marks in the country.
Hoops batted .429 in conference play, the sixth-best mark among all hitters, and scored 23 runs. He was recently voted the HEROsports.com DIII Offensive HERO of the Week for his performance in the team's 18-3 victory over Penn State Altoona in the first-round of the AMCC tournament.
Pitt-Bradford finished the season at 16-25 and advanced to the conference tournament semifinals under first-year head coach Zach Foster.
