Cressley Dominant in return to Fort Wayne

FORT WAYNE, Ind., -- Former University of Pittsburgh at Bradford ace pitcher Aaron Cressley was confident he would have success in his second stint with the Fort Wayne Tin Caps (Single-A Affiliate of the San Diego Padres).

On Thursday night, the right-hander got off to a great start, picking up the win while striking out two in 2.1 innings of scoreless relief, leading the Tin Caps to a 6-2 victory over South Bend.

He entered the game with two runners on base and two outs in the bottom of the fifth, hoping to get the Tin Caps out of the jam. He was able to work his way out of the tough spot, stranding runners on second and third by getting Jeffrey Baez to fly out to center.

He was even better in the sixth, working a groundout and then sending two Cubs back to the dugout after staring at strike three. He then tossed a perfect seventh inning to cap his strong outing.

With the win, Cressley improves to 1-1 with Fort Wayne this season. The win also pushed the Tin Caps (42-41) over the .500 mark for the season.

Fort Wayne continues their home stand, Friday night at 7:05 against Great Lakes.
