Panthers drop their third straight to Wooster, 10-3

FORT MYERS, Fla. — The Pitt-Bradford baseball team took on Wooster College in game two of its spring trip and fell to the Fighting Scots 10-3 Tuesday.

Pitt-Bradford (0-3) was led by senior Ethan Lear (Glen Rock/Susquehannock) who went 3-for-5 on the day with one RBI and one run scored.

Wooster College (2-0) was led by Frank Vance who went 3-for-4 with three RBIs and three runs scored.

Pitt-Bradford dug themselves a hole early as some defensive mistakes paved the way for Wooster to take the lead early in the ball game.

The Fighting Scots took advantage of the Panthers' mistakes on defense and came away with three runs as they led Pitt-Bradford 3-0 going into the third inning.

Wooster extended its lead to 10-0 in the fifth inning highlighted by a Vance two-run home run.

The Panthers would get on the board in the top half of the sixth after a senior Ethan Showers (Hughesville/Hughesville) two-run single to cut the lead to 10-2.

The Panthers would score one more in the ninth after a Lear RBI.

Pitt-Bradford coach Bret Butler said, "Although we dropped the game, we played nine hard innings and we continue to get better with every inning played. I am proud of their approach and know that it is going to produce positive dividends down the road. We are back at it tomorrow (today) and I am anxious to get the team back on the field."

The Panthers will return to the field to play St. Joseph College at 3 p.m. today.
