UPB game suspended in the 9th against St. Joes

FORT MYERS, Fla – The Pitt-Bradford baseball team took on St. Joseph College and had the game suspended trailing 9-4 in the middle of the ninth inning due to darkness.

The game will continue at a time to be determined.

Pitt-Bradford (0-2) was led by senior Connor Borowski (Bradford/Bradford) who went 2-for-4 with a home run.

St. Joseph (0-2) was led by Nick Giardi who went 3-for-5 with two RBIs.

The Golden Eagles struck in the top of the first inning after a Brendan Sullivan bloop RBI single to put them on top, 1-0.

St. Joseph strung together some offense in the top of the second as they tacked on one more to extend its lead to 2-0.

The Golden Eagles got three more in the fourth after they put together a two-out rally to push their lead to 5-0.

The Panthers would get one run back in the bottom of the fourth after senior Ethan Showers' RBI groundout to the shortstop scored Borowski.

St. Joseph would get it right back in its next at bats as the Golden Eagles got a two-out RBI single up the middle to make the score 6-1.

Pitt-Bradford started to chip away at the lead after an RBI single to center by Caleb Bennett in the bottom of the seventh making the score 6-2.

St. Joseph answered with a run off of a wild pitch to make it 7-2.

The Panthers would strike back with Borowski's towering homer that brought the lead down to 7-4.

The Golden Eagles gave themselves some insurance runs in the top of the ninth as they scored on a wild pitch and an RBI single to left field to push the lead up to 9-4.
