Johnson Named Wrestler of the Week

Bradford, Pa. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford wrestling team had one of its members recognized by the AMCC this week as sophomore Braedon Johnson was named Wrestler of the Week.

Johnson had an impressive debut in a Pitt-Bradford uniform, as he picked up three victories by pins in the AMCC Quad meet this weekend, wrestling in the 141 lb weight class. He started the day with a fall at 1:23 in the Panthers' win over Hiram. He followed this up with his second straight pin, winning his match in 1:29 in the victory over Penn State-Behrend. Finally, he closed the event with his most impressive bout of the day in the Panthers' loss to Alfred State. He pinned Alfred State's 2022 National Championship qualifier in just 41 seconds to give Pitt-Bradford a then 12-6 lead.

The Panthers went 2-1 in the inaugural AMCC quad match, defeating Hiram and Penn State-Behrend while falling to Alfred State.

Johnson is the third Pitt-Bradford wrestler to win the award, following D.J. Slovick who won on November 7th, and Colton Gietler who won on December 12th.

The Panthers will be right back in action at home this weekend, as they host the Pitt-Bradford Tri-meet on Saturday. The action is scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m.
