Official AMCC SAAC for Socks Release

BRADFORD, Pa. -- In coordination with the Pitt-Bradford tennis programs' Hot Paws initiative, the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee will be hosting the SAAC for Socks Campaign.

SAAC for Socks is an initiative encouraged for all schools in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference to collect socks, hats and warm clothes to donate to the less fortunate.

"All AMCC SAAC committees are joining together in a community service campaign to collect winter socks, gloves, and hats to donate to local homeless shelters across the region," the AMCC said in its official release. "Socks are an extremely high-need item for homeless people, especially during the winter months, when there is the risk of frostbite. Homeless people often have shoes but no socks, and the danger often goes unnoticed until it is too late. While men's warm socks tend to be a high-need item, donations of socks, hats and gloves for any gender, any age are all very welcome."

This initiative runs parallel with the Hot Paws campaign hosted by the Pitt-Bradford tennis programs, which have collected warm clothes all winter.

Those interested in contributing to the campaigns can leave donations by the tree in the lobby of the KOA Arena during regular business hours or during home athletic events, continuing with Friday's home swim meet at 5 p.m. and into Saturday's home basketball at 2 p.m

SAAC for Socks will run through the home wrestling event on Feb. 6 while Hot Paws will continue through the end of home basketball on Feb. 16.
