Student-Athletes Honored for Academic Success

As part of the annual NCAA Division III Week, the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference named 71 University of Pittsburgh at Bradford student-athletes to its Academic All-Conference Team.

"Once again, UBP student-athletes had a stellar year both on and off the playing field. Nearly 40 percent of our student-athletes were named AMCC Academic All Conference," said Faculty Athletics Representative Dr. Tony Gaskew. "This is an amazing honor and directly reflects the student-first approach embraced by the athletic director, the coaches, and our student-athletes."

Student-athletes earning this honor maintained a minimum GPA of 3.2 or higher as of the fall 2015 semester. Out of the 71 Pitt-Bradford student-athletes achieving academic all-conference status, 34 of them were named Peak Performers, meaning the individual accumulated a GPA of 3.5 or higher.

In addition to the 33 Peak Performers, 21 student-athletes were recognized as Chi Alpha Sigma, which is the National Collegiate Student-Athlete Honor Society. Chi Alpha Sigma recognizes both academic performance, leadership and character for selected student-athletes.

A total of 877 students across all of the schools in the AMCC earned Academic All-Conference honors, with 50-percent of those students being named Peak Performers.
