BRADFORD, Pa. -- Senior Sam Colebert of the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford wrestling team has been named a Pitt-Bradford Athlete of the Week for his performance during the period of Feb. 18-24.

Colebert placed sixth in the heavyweight class at the NCAA Southeast Regional hosted by Lycoming in Williamsport, Pa., marking the first Panther ever to place at Regionals in the program's history.

Friday, Colebert wrestled his way to the consolation bracket quarterfinals, advancing to Saturday's action.

The winner of the consolation bracket finishes third and advances to the NCAA Division III Championships.

Saturday, Colebert won his consolation quarterfinals match over Alex Brunner from Southern Va. by way of a pin in 3:30, keeping his hopes of an NCAA qualification alive.

But, his run was cut short with a 4-1 decision defeat to Dylan Otis from Penn College, serving as his second and eliminating loss of the regionals.

Later in the bout for fifth place, he once again met up with Paul Triandafilo from Gettysburg and fell via a 5-1 decision.
