BRADFORD, Pa. -- Senior pitcher Ryan Boyer of the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford baseball team has been named a Pitt-Bradford Athlete of the Week for his performance during the period of Feb. 11-17.
The Bradford native was purely dominant in his opening day start, coming one out away from a perfect game Saturday.
He struck out 16 batters in a seven-inning complete game to pick up the win at Wells and didn't walk anyone.
The 16 strikeouts are the program's most in a single game since 2005.
The lone hit against him was a home run, serving as his only surrendered run.
For his performance, he was named the AMCC Pitcher of the Week and honored as a member of the national D3Baseball Team of the Week.
